While the Chevrolet Malibu doesn’t typically invoke the same visceral reaction as the Corvette Stingray or Shelby GT350 Mustang, this announcement and the accompanying measure image released by GM has our interest piqued. Interested? Well, the elegant yet aggressive roofline will have to hold you over until the 2015 New York Auto Show, where the redesign will be officially revealed in the flesh.
It appears Chevy got serious with 2016 redesign of the Malibu. Scheduled to be available in the fall of 2015, the car is going to be reborn with more connectivity, improved styling, and more legroom. According to GM, the design team completely threw out the old design and took a blank slate approach. The new model will have a wheel base that is four inches longer than the outgoing model, for enhanced legroom and other luxury features.
Also, thanks to a more-durable steel structure, the 2016 Malibu will drop 300 pounds, feature greatly improved fuel economy and stiffer handling.
More details will be released in the coming weeks leading up to a full reveal at the 2015 New York Auto Show. RaceMeBro will be there in person to bring you the first pictures of the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu redesign, as well as other exciting announcements and reveals. Stay tuned.
