Ford’s latest technology for police cars may mean that the usually easy to sight police lights mounted on the roof of a car may soon disappear. Ford Motor Company is now offering a super-low-profile visor light bar that mounts inside the Police Interceptor Utility to enable full stealth appearance. This new visor light bar may make it nearly impossible to spot the vehicle from behind. You’ll see in an image below just how stealth-mode the car is when the lights are completely turned off: the lights seem unnoticeable unless active.
Ford explained that another advantage of the new interior visor light is that the dark shade band at the top of the windshield is replaced by clear glass when the light is ordered, providing superior color visibility and brightness. When activated, it flashes bright – alternating red and blue bars through the top of the windshield. It can also be programmed for red/red or blue/blue operation.
All we know is that these new stealth mode lights may mean speeders beware, because you may never know when it’s actually a cop car behind you once these new visor lights start hitting the streets. The interior visor light is available to order now on the 2017 Ford Police Interceptor Utility, so you’ll be seeing them (or completely missing them until it’s too late!) soon.
